4/15- It's Been a While

7th Grade Pride

7th  and 8th Grade Reading

7th Grade read The Diary of Anne Frank play
in response to one day's questions surrounding World War II.
7th Grade also started their study of prefixes, roots, and suffixes
in preparation for high school entrance and placement tests.

They will finish up projects on pronoun topics when they return from Echo Hill.
Before leaving for their trip, they handed in final drafts of an essay.

8th grade finished All Quiet on the Western Front,
an absolutely beautiful novel
told from the perspective of a German soldier during WWI.
They are no busy composing individual thesis statements on theme.
I am so excited to read these essays
and hope you will give them a read when they are completed in the coming weeks.

8th Grade Capstone Project

Climate change is having a messy effect on my classroom.
To find out how climate change has and will affect our planet,
join us on the morning of May 9th
when the 8th Grade will present their Capstone Project.

Service Club

7th and 8th grade members of the Service Club
participated in the 14th annual Kevin Cain "Make My Day" 5K Run.

They also delivered the $1,481
proceeds from last month’s school-wide Kevin Cain fundraiser.

They also sang the national anthem for the crowd gathered for the race.

E and A placed first and second respectively in their age range.
The 8th graders were in the 14-19 age group. That's a rough range.

7th Graders Interviewed 8th Graders

The 7th grade interviewed the 8th graders about the high school process.
They asked for tips in narrowing the field, mistakes to avoid,
what to look for in a school, what they could expect on a shadow day,
how to approach an interview,
and how to make it a manageable process, among other topics.
The 8th graders were happy to share what they learned
and did a nice job making the whole process seem less daunting.
