Hispanic Heritage Celebration
This month Holy Child has been celebrating Hispanic heritage.
During the morning broadcast each day,
8th graders highlighted a different Latino's accomplishments.
Prayers on this month's broadcast also featured Latino writers and religious.
The school was decorated with quotes from famous Latin Americans
as well a the pictures and contributions of famous Latinos.
On Tuesday the who school engaged in a Hispanic Heritage Celebration during community time.
Students traveled with their divisions
and participated in an art station where they made personal pinatas or maracas;
a music station where they had a Latin dance party and played Latin instruments;
and a game show station where they worked in teams to identify
the people who were highlighted on the broadcast,
those people's life stories,
and the flags of Latin America.
(The Early Childhood enjoyed a reading of The Hungry Caterpillar in Spanish
and practiced Spanish vocabulary highlighted there
instead of the game show set up. )
I was running the game show station, so I only have pictures of that.
I am certain pictures of the Latin dance party and art station
will be all over my colleges' blogs this week,
if you are interested in seeing those.
We all had a blast celebrating Hispanic heritage and culture.
