8th Research
8th grade has started their research.
Through this extended work,
they are not only developing critical writing/ researching skills
needed for high school, college, and beyond,
but they are also laying the foundation from which they will jump
into their Capstone Project work in the second semester.
Topics include the following:
7th Essays
The seventh grade has been taking their essays on how to improve HCA
through the steps of the writing process.
They are currently peer-editing with and without guided editing sheets,
which force in-depth focus on structure, style, and control of the language.
6/7 Religion
6-7 graders reviewing the Start with Hello plan with each other
before starting a group project project.
Jesus asked us to lay down our lives for our friends.
Through their Start with Hello study,
6-7 have tried to apply that concept to their lives.
Middle school can be tough.
Even when you want to reach out to isolated peers,
it can feel socially dangerous.
In this project they are brainstorming ways
that they can realistically reach out to people
and make them feel seen and loved.
Soon they will have exciting projects to share here.
Stay tuned.
8th Religion
Similarly the 8th grade is working in groups
to create Ads for the idea of reaching out to those experiencing social isolation.
These PSA's of sorts will be shared with the whole student body
and display common scenes of isolation found in our school
as well as realistic ways that young individuals can address them.
Again, stay tuned for finished products.
6th Prayer Service
The 6th grade has been practicing for the Founders' Day Prayer service on
Tuesday, October 15th at 8:15am in the MPR. During this prayer service, we will commission students to use their gifts
for the sake of serving their community.
Each grade's service partner for the year will be announced
and the entire school community will be invited to pray for them.
We hope you can join us.
7th Homeroom
As you know we had picture days this week.
7th graders (and their teacher) are excited to see our class picture.
We really can't wait; your kids can tell you why.
